Akane Sonozaki appears in 'Higurashi When They Cry and is voiced by Kikuko Inoue.' She is the mother of Mion Sonozaki and Shion Sonozaki, and the daughter of the current family head, Ryo Sonozaki. She is a swordsmanship expert known as the Demon Princess of Deerbone. She was originally the intended next head of the Sonozaki family, but despite her family's opposition to dating an outsider, she was forced to have her nails removed, her inheritance rights severed, she changed her old name 'Sou' with the family symbol, and changed her name to Akane. She is bold and decisive in character, combining the gentleness of a mother with strong decisiveness, and still holds significant influence within the family. Appearing in the Sin Annihilation arc, she leads negotiations between the Sonozaki family and the police, tries to protect Rena Ryugu, and navigates the family, police, and villagers across multiple arcs, serving as an important supporting character connecting many of the Sonozaki family's storylines.
