Rei Ayanami is a main character in the Japanese anime Neon Genesis Evangelion and its spin-offs. She is the exclusive pilot and primary pilot of EVA Unit-00. Ayanami Rei's true identity is a clone created by NERV using the somatic cells of the Second Apostle Lilith and Yui Ikari's DNA. It exists as a vessel for Lilith's soul, essentially a Lilith clone in Yui's likeness. She has light blue hair and red eyes, with a calm and aloof personality.
